The British Sinfonietta began its 2026 season in the magnificent surroundings of Llandaff Cathedral, Cardiff, with an all-Bach programme alongside Cardiff Bach Choir.
Conducted by Stephen Moore, the concert on Saturday 17 January featured Bach’s Magnificat in E-flat major, BWV 243a, and Mass in A major, BWV 234.
The performance marked the beginning of another busy year for the orchestra, with engagements across England and Wales ranging from major choral repertoire to festival appearances and performances in some of the country’s leading concert halls and cathedrals.
Among the works ahead during 2026 are Dvořák’s Stabat Mater, Bach’s St John Passion, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony, Mozart’s Mass in C minor, Verdi’s Requiem, Sir Karl Jenkins’ Cantata Memoria and The Armed Man, and Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius.
