Spring 2026 has seen one of the busiest periods in the British Sinfonietta’s calendar, with performances across England and Wales and collaborations with choirs and conductors throughout the UK.
Saturday 28 March was an exceptional day for the orchestra, with British Sinfonietta musicians appearing in three concerts simultaneously.
At Bristol Beacon, the orchestra joined Bristol Choral Society and conductor Hilary Campbell for Bach’s St John Passion. In Dorking, musicians performed Mendelssohn’s Elijah with Brockham Choral under David Swinson, while at Swansea’s Brangwyn Hall the programme included Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs and A Sea Symphony with Swansea Philharmonic Choir, conducted by Jonathan Rogers.
April continued with Mozart’s great Mass in C minor at St Albans Cathedral with St Albans Choral Society and Charlie Perry, before a further performance at Carlisle Cathedral with the Cumbria Singers and Matthew Owens.
The month concluded at London’s Cadogan Hall on 26 April with Verdi’s Requiem, bringing together the Aubrey Singers, the Fourth Choir, New London Singers and Putney Choral Society under conductor Jamie Powe.
The breadth of the spring programme reflects the British Sinfonietta’s continuing work with choral societies, festivals and concert promoters throughout the UK, providing flexible professional orchestras for repertoire ranging from the Baroque to the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
